From Pharmacy to Purpose
Farhana Binte Kamal began her academic journey with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from BRAC University, drawn to the sciences and the promise of contributing to healthcare. Yet as her path unfolded, she found herself increasingly drawn to the classroom rather than the laboratory — her analytical mind finding a new and deeply personal calling in the way young minds take shape.
Her Islamic faith has always been the compass behind her work — a conviction that justice, compassion and the pursuit of knowledge are inseparable duties. She holds firmly to the belief that every child deserves an education of real quality, rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah, whatever their background.
That conviction led her, alongside her co-founders, to establish Sukun Islamic School — a place built from the ground up around tarbiyah: not simply an academic curriculum, but a complete, student-centred nurturing of heart, mind and character. She continues her own Islamic studies at Taibah Academy, alongside a growing interest in calligraphy, believing a leader who keeps learning is best placed to nurture learners.
Under her leadership, SIS has grown into a community where Islamic values are lived daily rather than taught as a single subject — where children are given both the tools to succeed in this world and the grounding to walk with purpose in the next.
Principal's Welcome
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh — Peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
All praise belongs to Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala, the Rabb of all the worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his family, his companions, and all who follow his guidance until the Last Day. It is with a heart full of gratitude that I welcome you to the Sukun Islamic School (SIS) family.
The word “Sukun” itself means tranquility and peace — and this is exactly what we hope every child will feel the moment they step onto our campus: a place of warmth, safety and calm, where they are nurtured in the light of the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah while also receiving a strong academic foundation to thrive in today’s world.

Education at SIS is not simply about examination results. It is about nurturing character, strengthening faith, cultivating knowledge, and preparing children to fulfil their responsibilities in both this life and the Hereafter.
This Student-Parent Handbook reflects our educational philosophy, our curriculum, and the principles that guide daily life at SIS. I encourage every family to read it carefully so that home and school can work together in raising a generation that benefits the Ummah.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that seeking knowledge is a path leading towards Paradise. This timeless guidance remains at the heart of everything we do. SIS was established not merely to produce academically successful students, but to develop righteous, knowledgeable, compassionate and confident Muslims who will serve humanity with excellence in every profession they choose.
