Uniform Policy
A uniform is not merely a garment — it is a daily expression of modesty, discipline and belonging. At Sukun, every child is dressed in a way that honours their dignity and reflects the beauty of our deen.
A quick-reference chart of our uniform standards — the full guidelines are detailed below.
Why We Take Our Uniform So Seriously
For parents who wish to raise their children upon the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah, the uniform is one of the earliest and most visible lessons in haya' (modesty) that a child will carry for life.
Haya' from Day One
Children learn to cover and carry themselves with modesty as a settled habit, not a rule imposed later in life.
Equality & Discipline
A shared, unaltered uniform removes distinction by wealth or fashion, and instils order and self-respect.
Freedom from Trends
Our children are protected from the pressures of fashion, branding and imagery that contradict Islamic adab.
Identity & Pride
Every thobe and abaya is a quiet statement: this child belongs to a school proud of its Islamic identity.
Uniform Guidelines
Clear, consistent standards for both boys and girls — designed to be worn with ease, and with pride.
BoysUniform Guidelines
Thobe
- White thobe with royal blue borders on the collar and sleeve cuffs.
- Sleeve fastening must include snap buttons; the design cannot be altered.
- Colour must be true white — thobes appearing bluish from excessive laundry bluing will not be accepted.
Undergarments
- A plain white inner vest must always be worn underneath the thobe — this is compulsory for every boy, without exception.
- No colourful or patterned inner vests are permitted.
- Plain white pyjama trousers worn underneath.
Headwear
- Plain white cap (topi).
Socks
- Plain black socks only.
Footwear
- Black shoes.
GirlsUniform Guidelines
Abaya
- White abaya with navy blue borders along the sleeve cuffs and bottom hem.
Hijab & Niqab
- White hijab with a navy blue border along the edges, worn long till the waist.
- Black niqab is required from Lower KG and above.
Undergarments & Inner Wear
- Clothing worn beneath the abaya must never carry photos, cartoon characters or animal prints of any kind.
- Only plain white pyjamas are permitted underneath.
- Printed pants, patterned pyjamas or shorts under the skirt are strictly prohibited.
Socks
- Plain black socks only.
Footwear
- Black pump shoes with plain heels.
Winter Uniform
During the colder months, students may layer over their standard uniform with the following approved winter wear — modesty and neatness remain unchanged.
Boys
Navy blue blazer or navy blue waistcoat, worn over the thobe.
Girls
Navy blue cardigan, worn over the abaya.
Important Notes for All Students
White inner vest is compulsory for all boys inside their thobe. It cannot be coloured.
Socks must be plain black for every student.
Every dress must be properly ironed before arriving at school each day.
Our dress is white in colour. If it appears bluish from excessive bluing, it will not be counted as a proper white thobe.
Additional Reminders for Girls
Do not wear anything containing photographs of animals or cartoon characters inside the abaya.
Do not wear printed pants, pyjamas or shorts underneath the skirt.
Only plain white pyjamas are allowed to be worn underneath.
Proper Uniform is Mandatory
Every student is required to attend school in the complete, correct uniform as outlined above, worn neatly and properly ironed.
A student arriving without the proper uniform will, regrettably, be marked absent for that day.
- This policy applies equally to summer and winter uniform.
- Guardians are kindly requested to check their child's dress each morning before departure.
- We appreciate your cooperation in upholding the standard and identity of Sukun Islamic School.
"وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا" — Modesty is a branch of faith, and every thread of this uniform is worn in service of that faith.
