HIS JOURNEY

From Pharmacy to Purpose

MD. Mehedi Hassan began his professional life as a pharmacist, earning his B.Pharm from North South University and building a career across pharmaceutical research, product management and healthcare advisory roles. Yet a deep passion for education had always run alongside this work.

Over years spent researching, teaching and training — from IT and computer training to product management — he recognised his true calling lay in nurturing young minds rather than dispensing medication alone. Driven by this conviction, he stepped away from a well-established career path to found a school built on a simple belief: a successful Muslim is one who excels in both Deen and Dunya.

With careful planning, extensive research into educational philosophies, and guidance sought from experienced educators, he set out to establish Sukun Islamic School — a place where the internationally-recognised Cambridge Curriculum meets authentic Islamic education, grounded in the Qur’an and the understanding of the righteous predecessors (As-Salaf As-Salih).

Today, he continues to serve as Director, working to ensure every child at SIS grows academically capable and firmly rooted in faith — supported by a team, a curriculum, and a campus culture built with the same care he once brought to his research and his patients.

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Director’s Welcome

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam), his family, his companions, and all those who follow his guidance until the Last Day.

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Visitors — welcome to Sukun Islamic School, a place where academic excellence meets authentic Islamic values.

Our vision is built upon a simple yet powerful belief: a successful Muslim is one who excels in both Deen and Dunya. In today’s rapidly changing world, our children need more than academic qualifications; they need a strong Islamic identity, sound character, and unwavering faith. This is the foundation upon which Sukun Islamic School was established.

OUR APPROACH

“We proudly blend the internationally recognized Cambridge Curriculum with authentic Islamic education based upon the Qur’an and the Authentic Sunnah, according to the understanding of the righteous predecessors (As-Salaf As-Salih).”

Every lesson brings our students closer to Allah

One of the greatest blessings we can leave behind is a generation that lives by the Qur’an. For this reason, Hifzul Qur’an is one of the core pillars of our institution. We aspire to nurture students who not only memorize the Book of Allah but also understand its meanings, implement its teachings, and embody its noble character throughout their lives.

Our mission extends beyond classrooms and examinations. We aim to cultivate students who worship Allah sincerely upon Tawheed; follow the Qur’an and the Authentic Sunnah in every aspect of life; demonstrate honesty, humility, discipline, and compassion; excel academically while maintaining strong Islamic morals; and become beneficial members of their families, communities, and the Ummah.

As educators, we recognize that education is a trust (Amanah). Every child entrusted to us deserves sincere care, quality education, and righteous guidance. However, the success of a child cannot be achieved by the school alone — it is built upon a strong partnership between parents, teachers, and students. Together, with patience, sincerity, and reliance upon Allah, we can raise a generation firmly grounded in faith and equipped to meet the challenges of the modern world.

May Allah accept our efforts, bless our students with beneficial knowledge, righteous character, and sincere devotion, and make them among those who carry the light of Islam wherever they go.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan. Wassalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
